I had to come to Israel from Ukraine because Russia invaded Ukrainian territory two years ago. Herzliya is my primary place of residence now In the series Invisible Cities I reflect on the very idea of Landscape as a place of belonging and explore the genre of landscape painting in the context of contemporary realities. While the first landscape works originated in Ancient China and much later reached Europe, they occupy a significant place in the formation of classical painting. The conflicting idea of a landscape prevails nowadays in the lives of many Ukrainians: being parted from home nature in other places, instead of calming and soothing, almost irritates. I paint various landscapes, imaginary and real, it's as if I'm trying to transport myself back to that time when I was at home when there was no war, and yet fail to do so.
